Your flatmates
Your flatmates were in a pensive mood, as they were mulling the possibility of looking for another job. They would point to insecurity and excessive workload. And they dont like their prospects. It welchesnt your case, which made you uncomfortable. You tried to keep them on an upbeat mood, as you would do your best not to let them burst your bubble. Several days later, you were watching a reality TV show. It was Friday night, but you told your colleagues that you wouldnt join them on a night out. (You promised to make it up next week.) You werent paying attention to the show, as you wondered at your high level of job satisfaction. This wasnt the case in the past, so it dawned on your that luck might be a factor. And then you thought something. And another one (and so on). You couldnt tell your flatmates, as you believed there would be a right place at a right time. What made you satisfied? It came down to three reasonsYou hardly volunteer. You wont deny that you were individualistic, who would be more focused in getting the job done. Not that you dont believe in the virtue of unpaid job, but you learned that selflessness could be destructive. You havent told anyone about volunteering, when you managed a small group of like-minded people for a campaign. You believed in your capabilities especially on how to absprache with different personalities. A few years of living abroad taught you (or so you thought). It turned out be a nightmare, as you never encountered self-centered people. You almost forgot a toxic character. It might have been different if it was a workplace, so why not devote your energy into it. But you dont mind volunteering again. You havent found the right one, though. You found the right work-life balance. You made a resolution last year. You must go on a holiday every year. Not that you had a perpetual case of wanderlust, but you needed to forget work now and then. There was such a thing called mental fatigue, and your line of work would make you susceptible to it. Good thing you would plan your weekend with a line of activities. And your mates would be available. But your former housemate was nagging you to join him on a backpacking trip in South America. You would think it over. Youre lucky to have a good boss. You knew that poor management could be the cause of world-related problems. You werent one of those employees who must deal with it. And you hope it would stay that way for years to come. It reminded you of your flatmates.
